Did you know that a Heron descendant created the ORTANIQUE ?
TO HERON AND PHILLIPS RESEARCHERS:
Did you know that David Daniel Phillips, JP, OF Manchester, Jamaica, who created the ORTANIQUE plant and fruit, is a descendant of members of the enslaved"coloured" or "mixed-race" HERON family of Jamaica? This product is now Manchester's most famous product; and is the third highest money-earner for the island of Jamaica (West Indies).
D. D. Phillips, was a coloured man of bi-racial parentage, that is, the product of a white planter's son and the daughter of a Black enslaved woman.
David Daniel Phillips, JP, who died in 1955, was invloved in Jamaica as a Politician (for over 60 years); Church Leader (i.e., Chairman of the Congregational Church Union of Jamaica); Agriculturalist; Land Developer; Senior Lay Magistrate, and sometimes Acting Custos Rotolurum.
The Congregational Church Union of Jamaica is now a part of the United Church of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.
TRULY A VISIONARY AND A MAN BEFORE HIS TIME.
Sincerely
Bev.
