Re: Spelling of Herwig

I hope you don't mind me making my comments about Herwig.I just recently began researching my brother in law's Hertweck family.The Hertweck's have been in Haueneberstein, Baden, Ger for several centuries.In fact an internet search will tell you that town is the main place on the planet where you will find a Hertweck.
In my researching (very little at this point) I saw that round about 1700 the name was changed from Hertwegg/Hertweg/Hertwig to Hertweck and Hertwick.I believe that many of this line dropped the T upon immigrating to new countries.I have even seen where brothers and sisters spelled their surname in different ways in the same family.
Perhaps this post will help the Herwig/Herweg researchers injumping the pond to Germany.
