Anna Hesser b. Abt. 1736/37 died at the age of 96 in Fayette, co., OH Mar 1833, and Elizabeth her daughter, b.abt. 03 Jul 1771 and died 14 Oct 1864, probably in Fayette, Co, Ohio. Elizabeth married 1. Henry Snider b. 13 Jun 1774 d. 06 Apr 1832from Loudoun co., VA m. bef. 1800 and 2. John Doster of Fayette co. Ohio. Dec. 12,1836.
Henry Snider’s father was William Snider. William Snider’s estate was probated in Loudoun county, in 1799.
Henry and his brothers Jacob and William. Jr. then traveled first to Fayette county, PA abt 1800. where Jacob’s son William was born in 1805 and then to Ross county, Ohio between 1805 and 1806. After Fayette county, OH was formed from part of Ross county, they appeared in Fayette county.
I have seen references, including at the LDS family search that say Elizabeth Hesser was born in Fayette county, Ohio. I think it is possible that she and Henry could have been married in Fayette county, PA, but I think they were married before they moved to PA, possibly even before William Snider’s estate was probated in 1799, since daughter Catherine was probably born before 1800. Estates did not always mention son’s spouses, so can’t go by that.
I am alsointerested in anything on John Buffington m Ann Hesser- Sep 10, 1798, if she could be related to my Anna and Elizabeth Hesser. Anna Hesser was probably living with Henry Snider and Elizabeth Hesser Snider in 1830 on the Fayette county census. I have been unable to find out where Anna Hesser was living prior to 1830. I have checked all the Hessers and can’t find a female the right age in 1820 and 1810.Thought she might have another married daughter, so checked all 11 John Buffingtons in 1820 and an Ann Buffington in 1810. That Ann Buffington died in 1811, a grandmother, so she was the older woman listed there. That takes me back to a couple of the John Buffingtons, which are inconclusive unless someone knows more??
I also saw a female the right age rangeliving with George Hesser in Frederick county, VA, but if the same females were living there in 1810, the age range was not correct in 1810.
To further complicate things. In 1850 Elizabeth Hesser Snider Doster’s birthplace is listed as MD. In 1860 it is transposed as NJ, but another entry on the same page is translated as MD. The original handwritten MD and NJ look exactly alike to me. ON 1880 census, Elizabeth Hesser Snider’s son, Peter says both parents born VA.
