Hi, Checked your website, but I didn't see the Hiler I was looking for so I thought that I would contact you about it.
On the 1860 Birmingham, Schuyler Co, IL Census, an Ella Mae Hyler (Hiler) age 2 shows up with my Elijah Peacock family. Here's the story...
Elijah Peacock was born in WV, married Sarah Scott in IN, then they moved to Illinois in about 1848 or so. Sarah Scott Peacock died in 1858, leaving Elijah with many children. So the children were split between the Peacocks and the Raymonds (Ella Hiler actually living with the Raymonds on the 1860 Census but really belonged in the Peacock household). In 1860 Elijah Peacock married a Mary Pendarvis and then all children (including Ella Hiler) were back to living with their father by the 1870 Birmingham, Schuyler Co IL Census.
None of the Peacock researchers know why or how Ella Hiler came to IL and lived with Elijah Peacock as there were no Hilers living in Birmingham at that time. I am thinking that it could be possible that she came from an Orphan Train and was taken in by the Peacocks.
A researcher has Ella Hiler b:19 Apr 1858 in Nashville, Davidson Co, TN, married to a John Freeland on 11 Feb 1886 in Schuyler Co IL and d:22 Mar 1952 Des Moines, Polk Co, IA.
Would you happen to know anything about this Ella Mae Hiler?
