Hi,

I'm interested in all Hilliard / Hillyard's from Ireland. It is not a common name there. Hillyard is a Hueguenot name. I'm collecting all Hilliard/Hillyard's I can find from Ireland. There is a James b 12 June 1721 in Cloghane, Kerry, Ireland. He is not likely the one you are looking for but if he had a son James, then the age would be about right for your James.

The earliest Hillyard's were in Dublin. There was a Thomas born 1614 in Dublin father born London.

Next there were some born in Dublin, then a few in Kerry and Cork.

The Dublin ones thinned out but the Kerry ones flourished. The Cork ones weren't quite as prolific. There was also a few in Westmeath/Longoford (west of Dublin).Later a few appeared in Northern Ireland ( Fermanagh & Londonderry).

This could just be what has been made available on the net so far, but at least it give you an idea of where to look.

Dorothy
