Dorothy - Religion changed from Protestant to Roman Catholic.As mentioned Robert Hilliard (1830-1916) married Marcella Connaughton on Jan. 7, 1857.Robert had converted to Roman Catholic from Protestant, my guess is prior to the wedding.Robert's parents (Protestant) - Thomas Hilliard (b. ~1805) was Protestant and married Nancy Cox.Let me know if this helps or if you have information connecting to the Athlone Hilliard (Hillyard) trail.Thanks in advance.
