George Weld Hilliard (1840-1928), Brighton, Illinois
The October/November 2006 issue of ANTIQUES & FINE ART magazine on p. 195 pictures a portrait of George Weld Hilliard (1840-1928) of Brighton, Illinois, that was painted ca. 1849.
The cited page says that his "father was a prosperous farmer and orchardist, who specialized in raising apples. George Hilliard grew up to become a farmer and also president of the First National Bank of Brighton, Illinois. He died at age 89 as a result of being kicked in the head by a mule."
This fine portrait should be known to the Hilliard family. I am scanning it in case any of the Hilliard descendants might like a copy, either by email or by postal mail. Someone in the Hilliard family ought to have it--it is too good to be missed by the family. It may not have extensive genealogy value, but it certainly does have a whole lot of family and historic value.

If it were a portrait of a Pease family member, I'd certainly want someone to do the same for me.
