Mark:
I have information on your HILLMER line.I was wondering if you know a man from this line who carries the HILLMER surname? If you do, if would be great if he would donate a little saliva (actually Q-tip swap rubbed on the inside of the mouth / cheek) in order to determine his Y-chromosomes that have been passed down from his paternal (only HILLMER) men ancestors. These Y-chromosome markers only go from father to son ... and almost never change for several generations. Thus, by comparing the 28-37 Y-chromosome markers of each different line of HILLMER / HILMERs, we can determine if they have a common ancestor and how far back that ancestor would be.
I have been collecting and researching HILLMER and HILMER surnames for several years.Several lines all go back to Germany in a small area ... about 15 mile radius, so we have to be related ... but, we just can't find it.
Do you think you know someone who could help us?
