I have found a Himmel ancestor of mine, who is actually from Lodz, Russia (current day Poland).So, the Himmel name may not necessarily be German.Also, there was a lot of migration between European countries then, so it can be hard to tell.

Anyway, have you traced your family tree at all?Would be interesting to see if there is a link.

Bertha Himmel was my paternal great grandmother, born in 1885 in Lodz, Russia.She emigrated by herself on April 9, 1907, from Liverpool to Philadelphia aboard the "Haverford".Her ticket was bought by her brother in law, Adolf Neuman.

She married Otto Kruger in probably 1909 or 1910 and the family remained in Philadelphia.
