Here is something that grabbed my attention: In one of your posts you mentioned "died in Ouray Colorado, he was a mine owner in Silverton Colorado."

Clara J. Robbins, the daughter of William H. Robbins, married Thomas Henry Ballard in Erwin, Colorado in 1881.
Ballard Mountain in Telluride Colorado is named after Thomas Ballard and his brother. I have been to Silverton and Tellurude CO and know they are adjacent to each other. Thomas Ballard was a very succesful mining engineer in the area.

It seems like there is food for thought here.
