Normally, censuses will provide clues, but I only see the names you already have.No other HIN(C)KLEY families show up in their area.
Census of 1850, North Brunswick, Middlesex Co., NJ, HINKLEY, Isaac, 57; Catharine 54; Charles, 10.
Census of 1860, Middlesex Co., NJ, HINCKLEY, Isaac, 64; Catharin(e), 62; Charles, 21.
[There was a Margaret, 49, of New Brunswick.]
Census of 1880, District 2, Princeton, Mercer, NJ, HINKLEY, Char(l)es A., 40, printer, b. NJ, parents b. NY; wf. Anna L., 27; ch. Isaac A., 12; Charles W., 4; & Catharine, 8 mos., all b. NJ.
In case Isaac WAS born in New York, as listed in 1880 for father of Charles, here are the
HINCKLEY entries for the 1790 census of New York:
Elkanah, John, & Thomas, Dutchess Co., Frederickstown
Joshua, Dutchess Co., Southeast Town.
HINKLEY,
Gershom, Sr. & Jr., Albany County, Pittstown
Nathan, Albany Co., Saratoga
Paul & Samuel, Albany Co., Stephentown
Josiah, Albany Co., Watervliet
Mercey, Clinton Co., Crown Point.
Hinckley Heritage & History, 1982, by E. Chas. HINCKLEY, has Joshua HINCKLEY & Lydia SNOW as parents of
Thomas (4 Mar. 1726/7 - Apr. 1813, Westerlo, NY)
Joshua, b. 15 Aug. 1728, Harwich, MA
Elkanah, b. 1 July 173[2?] bpt. 29 July 1733, Brewster, MA; [& others].
Gershom HINCKLEY (4 Sep. 1730 - 15 Jan. 1809) m. by 1758, Catherine WIGHTMAN (9 Feb. 1737, Norwich, CT- 24 Sep. 1807, NY).Their sons were Gershom, Daniel, John, Samuel, David, & Jonathan Niles HINCKLEY.
Can you think of more clues?
