Hincks, Richard Henry 1895
My grandfather, RICHARD HENRY HINCKS, was born in Leicester in 1895.His family owned a hay and grain business in Rutland Street. He left Leicester in 1909 to emigrate to Alberta, Canada. His parents (Richard Hincks and Sarah?/Mary? Rogers?/Noseworthy?) had left slightly earlier for Canada, with his younger brother, Philip. His father was quite heavily involved in "county cricket" in Leicester. My grandfather had a number of maiden aunts in Leicester, who used to send me itchy woolen socks and the "Boys Own" books at Christmas when I was small. They were apparently quite involved in teaching drama, singing, etc.
My grandmother, BEATRICE CECILIA STENSON (STINSON?), was born in Burton-on-Trent, also in 1895.Her family owned a furniture shop. She emigrated to Alberta, Canada with her parents (Joseph? and Sarah?/Mary?) on or slightly before 1905.They were preceded in Canada by my grandmother's uncles (Fred?Frank?).
In Canada, my grandparents lived variously in Fort MacLeod, Coaldale, Lethbridge and Calgary, in Alberta, and Ferne, in British Columbia.
My grandparents only returned to England once, in 1967 (my grandfather was appalled to find that England had changed during the 58 years, and that the Empire had lost some of its power).I have never visited England, but am now working in Montenegro.I have thought of visiting while I am here, and am interested in knowing if any of my relatives still live in the area.My grandfather had also compiled a partial family tree for himself and my grandmother, but it is quite incomplete, and I would like to fill in the gaps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
