I don't know if this is relevant because I'm not what you call a serious genealogist. However, my maiden name is Hindle and as far as I know my family as far back as I have asked were all born and bred in Blackburn. (including me to the age fo 16) My grandfather was Frank Hindle and his father I was always told was known as Henry. I also think he was married to a Sarah (I don't think that side of the family originated from Blackburn - possibly Shropshire, but I can't be sure).
I do know that there is a gravestone in Blackburn cemetry (near the Roelee area) that bears the name of Henry Hindle.I was once taken to it as a child and told that it was the grave of my Great great grandfather. I also believe that they had a family business - something to do with flour milling. Again the details are a bit sketchy.
I'll have another chat with my dad and see what else i can come up with.
I hope this proves useful - do let me know if it is.
Good Luck
Sue Dixon
