Hello, again.I "lost" you for a few days, but in the meantime found a little info for you.
The firm of Hyndman, Lancaster had a London address of 10 Gould Street, at least in the 1750s.Also, I found a few mentions in a site called "Records of Ante-Bellum Southern Plantations from the Revolution Through the Civil War".Rahter than take a chance on incorrectly entering the address, I suggest a Yahoo web search with keywords Hyndman Lancaster. They are nice enough to color-highlight for you, if you click on the cached version. Our guys show up on page eleven and elsewhere in the 104 pages...I recommend reading the introduction for the background info.
My ancestor, John Lancaster, was a factor for the company.I am fairly certain their main product was tobacco. If you should find 1600s to early 1700s info, I would surely appreciate knowing where! The earliest firm date I have found is 1754, but know that my ancestor was active in the business from a very young age, and John was born about 1695.
