Re: Indiana Hinesleys

My father is from the group of Hinesleys that moved into west tennessee around 1836. They had a brother or cousin named Benton. My great granddad was Elias Hinesley. He and his brother William came from Chatham County, NC. This family had named many of their sons Alfred which was probably an derivation of Alford which was the maiden name of one or more of the wives of the early ancestors from Maryland.I recall my father having spoken of taking his Dad to Indiana to visist a distant relative. i would love to knwo more about your Benton. I would share my information about the West tennessee Hinesleys. At some point in time my grandfather dropped the "e" and we became Hinsley. I wish we had kept the "E". No one can pronunce it correctly now.
