Mrs. Margaret Hingtgen died Wednesday morning at the home of her son, Michael, six miles north of Bellevue.She had been sick several years and was 76 years of age, being born in Germany, March 28, 1840.The funeral will be held Saturday forenoon from St. Joseph's church.
Theodore Hintgen (Hingtgen), 1829-1906, was born in Hostert, Luxembourg.In 1854, he emigrated to America settling in Jackson County, Iowa, and eventually adjacent to his brother Jacob's farm at Mill Creek.
In 1857, he married Margaret Heiter, who bore him two boys and ten girls.Later he retired to Bellevue from his Tete des Morts farm.

was born May 7 1858 at Luxembourg, Germany.Peter died 25 Sept 1924 at St. Donatus, Jackson County, Iowa, and was buried at St. Donatus, Jackson County, Iowa.He married Francesca gilles on 25 November 1880 at St. Donatus in Jackson County, Iowa.She was born 14 Sep 1857 at Luxembourg, Germany, the daughter of Nicholas Gilles and Elizabeth.Francesca died 21 November 1939 at St. Donatus and was buried on 23 Nov 1939 at St. Donatus.They had 11 children:

Obituary for Mrs. Francesca Hingtgen published in the Bellevue Leader on November 23, 1939:
Death claimed aged resident of St. Donatus Tuesday morning -- last rites this morning.
Mrs. Frances Hingtgen, 82, pioneer resident of the St. Donatus locality and widow of Peter Hingtgen, died Tuesday morning at 12:30 o'clock following an illness of two days in St. Francis Home, Dubuque.
The body was taken to the Hoffman mortuary, Dubuque, from where the funeral will be held Thursday morning at 8 o'clock to the catholic church at St. Donatus, where the Rev. N. Krull will celebrate the requiem mass at 9 o'clock.Burial will be made in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Hingtgen was born in Luxemburg, Europe, Sept 14, 1857, and came to Jackson County when she was seven years old with her parents, the late Nicholas and Elizabeth Gilles.She lived in Jackson County until eight months ago when she came to Dubuque.
she was a lifelong member of the catholic church and was a member of St. Donatus church and the Rosary Society and Sacred Heart League of that church.
On Nov. 25, 1880, she was married to Peter Hingtgen, who preceded her in death, Sept. 24, 1924.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. John Hipschen (my great grandmother Elizabeth), Mrs. charles Entringer, and Mrs. William Hanten, all of Dubuque, Mrs. John Nemmers, LaMotte; two sons, Frank Hingtgen, St. Donatus and John Hingtgen, Dubuque; and 38 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her husband and two daughters, Susan and Lorraine and one son, Nicholas Hingtgen.
