Who was Skillman reared with and did he make it over to Tazewell Co. Il ?If so, did John Judy Jr. go there also.
The 1820 Greene Co. Ohio Census lists George Hittle in the 45 and up catagory The George Hittle that was the son of George Michael Jr. is documented byJohn T. Humphrey this way:
George Huttel(2 dots over the u)
birth/Baptism 8 July 1774
Location Dryland Church, Lower Nazareth Township
County: Northampton (Pa)
According to Birt Hittle he also veiwed the work of Wm Henke and issued this report:
From: Church Record of the Reformed and Lutheran Congregations in Nazareth Township, Northampton County, Formerly The Dryland Church, Now the Trinity Lutheran Church and Dryland Reformed Parish, Hecktown, PA 1763-1808.These records were copied by Wm. Hinke from August to November 1929.I (Birt Hittle) found these records on microfilm at the Allen County Library in Fort Wayne, IN.The roll of microfilm is labeled: Evangelical & Reform Church Records-----Penna.E.K.-135/136.The film is hard to read, but not impossible.
p. 313 no year listed, but bap. immediately before and after are dated 1774.
Parents: George Michael Huttel and Christine; Child: George, b. July 8, bap. July 31;
Spnnsors: Jonas Hartzel and Catharine.
He also cites Henke on a son by the name of George Adam:
p.45.yr.1778
Parents: Michael Hittel wf. Christina; Child: George Adam, b. Mar. 19, bap. April 19;
Sponsors: George Adam Ritter and Anna Maria Becker.
Humphrey also has George Adam
George Adam Hittel
Birth/Baptism Date:19 Mar 1778
Location:Dryland Church, Lower Nazareth Township
County: Northampton
State: Pa.
Father: Michael HittelMother : Mrs. christine Hittel
This George, (which is believed by Hittle researchers to be the George Hittle that ended up in Tazewell Co. Il.)would have been over 45 in 1820 census .this George Adam would not have been.I have read that this George Adam died young but I have no documentation to site. In George Michael Hittle Jr.'s will, which was signed in 1825, he states that he has 4 sons, David, George, Michael, and Isaac.I haven't seen any documentation that would either prove or disprove that this is the George Hittle of Greene Co. Ohio.
There is a Solomon Hittle that was in theHamilton/Butler Co. Ohio area during this time periodthat I haven't seen linked to the descendents of either Jurg Michael (Sr.) or Peter Hittel.
