Hixson/Witt/Hutton

I’m looking for a little clarification, according to my information; James Madison Witt (b. 1829) son of Gibson Witt married either Susan Rodgers/Rogers or Susan Hixon/Hixson in 1853.Per family rumor James Madison Witt died of pneumonia after a river cattle crossing.His widow Susan then married a William Clark; they had at least one child, Molly/Mollie.Mollie/Molly married a Russell K Hutton; I think they had a ranch in the Moses Lake / Ephrata area of eastern Washington, about 1920.
Was James Madison Witt married more than once?
Any clarification on any of the above would be helpful.
