Fred Lander Hixson 1896-1946, Hamilton County, TN

I am attempting to find out if there was a jail or hospital in Silverdale, Hamilton County, TN in 1946.Fred Lander Hixson's death certificate lists him in residence there for 12 years.I was going to check the 1940 census, but I'm not sure which enumeration district to look at.

Fred was the son of Joseph D. and Allie (Alabama Hunter) Hixson.Any assistance finding information on the descendants of this family would be greatly appreciated.
