ANDREW HOUGLAND

By steven houghland February 15, 2010 at 06:27:29

Evening!

Apparently, Andrew, married twice, came from Muhlenberg Co., KY., I wonder who fathered my great-grandfather ANDREW HOUG(H)LAND b. 1818, d. Aug 11, 1878.

Andrew was married to his first wife, Ann Stinson of Tennessee.

With his first wife, Ann Stinson, born March 1821?, died July 12 1873, age 52y, 3m, 19d.

There was an entry for Andrew Hougland, Birth date: 1818, Death date: 11 Aug 1878 in Mt Gilead Cemetery, Boone Township, in vol 4, page 410 of the "Warrick County, Indiana, cemetery inscriptions"/Manley, Kris., (Genealogy Division, 977.201 W295ma). The material also listed an Ann Stinson Hougland, Death date: 12 July 1873, Age: 52y 3m 19 d; wife of Andrew.

(I think it's incorrect or it was someone else?)
The following entry was in the "Index to Warrick County, Indiana Newspaper Death Notices and Obituaries (1850-1900)" compiled by: Sharon Patmore and Kristine Manley (Genealogy 977.201 W295pt, vol 1): Hougland, Andrew; 17 Aug 1875; Booneville Weekly Enquirer; 62y, Mt Gilead.

Andrew and Ann had 9 children:

George 1842,
Francis 1844,
Benjamin 1846,
Martha 1847,
William b.1850, d.Aug. 1880 in Illinois,
Sarah 1853,
Margaret Ella 1855,
America (female) 1860,
and Ulysses S. 1863

When Ann Stinson Hougland died, Andrew was married to Elizabeth Humphrey Broshears Condit. They had two sons:

Andrew J. Houghland b. 1875, d. somewhere in Massachusetts
Albert Houghland b. Dec 21, 1878, d. June 12, 1976

Both in Boonville, Indiana.

Elizabeth Humphrey Broshears Condit Hougland was 4 months pregnant when Andrew died. Albert, my grandfather, was 13 when his mother, Elizabeth, died on December 29, 1891, of pneumonia in Maple Grove, IN.

Again, who fathered ANDREW HOUGLAND?
