Re: William Horton Hobbs b. 1805 NC, Monroe GA to Talladega AL
Jim,I now believe that Mary H. Hobbs, b. 1828, would be the Mary, daughter of George Hobbs, b. 17__ NC.this daughter Mary was apparently one of Geoge's daughters who was not in the 1840 Census, then reappeared in the 1850 Monroe Co., GA. Census, and the grandchildren Newton, age 10 and Callie/Sallie age 1 was listed, then she apparently followed George to Talladega Co., Ala., for the 1860 Census. Then she marry's John Dooley in Talladega Co. Ala.I do not know where they moved... everyone was heading west, a few headed to Tenneessee, many possibilities. Her sister, Rebecca, returned to Monroe Co., Ga. to live with her brother, Solomon, for the 1870 Census.
Even my ancestory, James McDaniel(D.) Hobbs moved on to Texas after his mother died in the 1870's and the father remarried.
