The Hobbs family is on my mother's Hammons side of the family.Ellen Maude Hammons was the daughter of Loma Hammons and Mary Walker.He waas the son of Lincoln Link)Hammons and Mary Lu Vina (Vina) Hobbs.She was the daughter of Sargent James C Hobbs born Jam 10 1840 Cole, Henry County, MO, fought in the Civil War, died Dec 8, 1925, Gerdner, Douglas County, MO buried in the cemetery there.Have pictures of him and family, and headstone.James was mustered in Captain HENRY MCGONIGLE'S Company D 21st Regiment.He fought, was taken prisoner and exchanged at the bloodiest battle, Shilo.Fought with Sherman in his march to the sea, and was mustered out April 19, 1855 at Fort Gains, Mobile, AL
Mom is also the daughter of James & Emily Hammons Fry, son of James and Nancy Parnell Fry, son of Harvey Fry and Alpha Rutherford, daughter-granddaughter of James Rutherford born 1780 Wythe County, VA, lived in Rutherford county, NC died in 1849 McMinn County, TN.It is believed that Alpha is the daughter of James' oldest daughter and an Indian (Rape)
