Re: Sarah Hockett and related families
Diane, What more can you tell me about Eli and his other siblings? You are also welcome to contact me direct at email@example.com
An interesting item I found with regard to Isaac Andrew Rich is that upon his migration and settlement in Butler County, Kansas he no longer seems active as a Quaker. I did find that he became a Knight of Pythias.
I believe I gave you some misinformaion in the previous posting. I have a Wendle Daniel Grove marrying Sarah Jane Hodson in 1847 in Ripley County, Indiana. In 1850, the Grove family is found in Franklin, Ripley County. Isaac Andrew Rich, son of Jabes Rich and Sarah Hockett, was born January 19, 1850. In 1860 the Groves are found in Honey Creek, Howard County (Indiana). In 1870, they are found in Harrison, Howard County. Isaac Andrew Rich married Wendle D. and Sarah Jane (Hodson) Grove's daughter Martha Esther Grove on December 24, 1870. I believe the Grove and the Rich families then migrated to Butler County, KS around 1875-77.
I have been unable to find any information of the ancestry for Wendle D. Grove. I had suspected that he may also have been Quaker, but an obit for him states he was united with the Disciples of Christ then became a Methodist when there were "no Christians" to be found in Butler County, KS.
I have not been able to find any descendents today who are members of the Isaac A. Rich lineage. If you come across anything of the Grove family, please let me know.
