Re: Washington Co. Oregon 1860: Hockett/Griffith surviving children

Hello Pete, I truly wish I had a picture of Rachel and/or the family Bible in which she recorded her father and mother's death. You probably have this info, but if not, here goes: Nathan Hinshaw Hockett (our great, great grandfather) was born in Ohio, Jan 12, 1812 and died on the Oregon Trail,probably in current day Idaho,Aug. 22,1847. Her mother, Rebecca Mills Hockett was also born in Ohio, Dec. 22, 1812,and died Aug. 27, 1847 along the Oregon Trail, and is buried in a site overlooking the Snake River at Shoshone Falls. This info is taken from the video documentary we viewed called the "Oregon Trail - a nine-year old's Journey by W. A. Hockett" (may not be the exact title.) He was Rachel's youngest brother, Jesse Hockett,I understand, was a baby, born in 1846 (right?) Jesse stayed in Oregon with 16-yr.old Rachael, until after her marriage to John Griffith, Mar. 1849. William assembled letters that his father, Nathan, wrote along the Trail to his grandfather in Iowa, and this documentary was an artistic endeavor of those letters. I believe Chris gave you my father and grandfather's statistics. My father died Aug. 24, 1947 not the 27th. At any rate if you would like to have info on my sisters, our children and grandchildren, I would be happy to give them to you. My father's siblings are also gone now, but I have some Griffith cousins near my age still living, if you would like info on them also. The friend I mentioned, Janie Long, is currently in Florida, but will be home soon, but I will contact her, since her husband is also a descendant of Jesse Hockett. My very best to you.
