This is what I know about Patterson Hodge. He was born in Jackson County, Ga. th 24th of July 1815. He served with the Georgia Militia Volunteers, Capt. Wagnon's Company during the Indian (Seminole) Wars in the year 1837-1838 (enlistment date 15 Sep 1837) for a period of 6 months. He married in Washington Co., Fl to a Martha Everette on the 4th day of July 1845. Now I am not so sure that he married in Washington Co., FL it could have very well been Washington Co., Ga.. (** Pension records say, Florida) Martha died (measles) sometime between the time they married and the 4th day of June 1846 when he married Mary M. White. He filed for Pension on the 27th of July 1892 in Douglas Co., Ga showing Tyre as his Post Office. After his death on the 6th of Nov 1899, Mary filed on th 19th of May 1900 for a Widows Pension.
As far as the Civil War, he (Patterson) enlisted Fannin's 1st Georgia State Guards, I have his compiled service records as well. Although there is not a lot to them, if you would like to have them, I would not mind, sending them to you via email. But you will have to be patient with me. I a United Daughters of the Conferacy Convention this weekend, and I work 5 days a week, 10 hrs a day. This dont leave a lot of time to deal with anything. However, I will work at getting them to you if you want.
I have to make a trip to the library, and I will pick up the compiled service records and check to see if I can find any Pension Records for Joseph Hodge. If he was receiving a pension in1921, there should be a 2 pages of info that was filed with the state and there is some good information on this pension census that was taken.
I cant put my hands on my notes, but I will find them and look over the issues with the census. I am certain that James H Hodge was not the son of Patterson, and as far as Joseph, I have not eliminated him as a son, but I would put money on it that he is not his son.
Joseph looks to have been born about 1844 and from this information alone, one could determine that he is not his son as the 1850 Census list Patterson living with Mary's parents
1850 Federal Census (Population Schedule) Dekalb County, Georgia, page 214B, Atlanta, HH 245/247, National Archives Roll M432-67
James White, age 52, Farmer, born South Carolina
Susan White, age 53, born South Carolina
Patterson Hodge, age 32, Coppersmith, born Georgia
Mary Hodge, age 23, born Georgia
Emely White, age 19, born Georgia
John White, age 18, born Georgia
See there is not a child abt 6 years old with this family, however Joseph could be living with the family of his mother, if his mother (Patterson's 1st wife, Martha) I have looked for him, but havent found him yet. But I do know that if he was born abt 1844 there is not way he can be Mary Whites son with Patterson Hodge, However he could be Martha Everettes child.
