Re: Moses Hodges Will
Harriet H. Hodges, daughter of Moses Hodges.
From Strawberry Baptist Church records (Pittsylvania Research Center)
On February 15, 1817 Harriet H. Hodges professed her experiences and was received into fellowship ( p. 60). At the same meeting Nancy Hodges was cleared of charges brought against her by Frances Bowlin. On November 19, 1831 Harriet H. Hodges was given letter of dismissal (p. 98).On June 18, 1836 the church "rec'd Sister Harriott H. Hodges by letter from Union church, Pitts. . . VA." (p. 105). Then on September 4, 1841 "Sister Harriet Pratt dismis't by letter in fellowship". (p. 131). The handwritten index had Harriott Pratt, formerly Harriett Hodges.
Census research shows Jesse and Harriet Pratt in Patrick County, Virginia in 1850, 1860, and 1870. Then Jesse Pratt (widowed) married Malinda Gilbert (widowed) in 1873 and this couple appears on 1880 census.
. So that gives us four dates for Harriet: joined the church in 1817, moved her membership in 1831. Moved membership back in 1836 and moved membership again in 1841 after her marriage to Pratt.
