Dear Christopher Hodgkin,
Graham Hodgkin is my father (and his first name is Christopher too).
The first Hodgkin to move out to Australia was my Grandfather's wife, Mary during the Second World War with her four children.Grandpa (Earnest Pease Hodgkin) joined her when the war was over as he was interned in Changii as a civilian POW.
Grandpa's sister, Erica moved out after her husband, Donald Groom was lost in an air accident with her three children. Another sister (?) Theodore (Trickett) moved to New South Wales sometime in the 60s, but I have only met her once or twice at Australia Yearly Meeting.
Uncle Olaf, as you refer to him, migrated out to Australia when he was 96 (I was about 7 at the time) and spent the rest of his life there. He died in 1981.
Mary died in 1985, Grandpa died in 1997 and Erica died in (I think) 2000 - she had moved to Tasmania to join one of her children.
I don't know about the research that Robin did.I'll ask Jennifer and Jonathan Hodgkin who live here in Britain when I see them next at Yearly Meeting in York.My father's sister, Tricia has a copy of the Hodgkin Pedigree Book which is a private publication (I think there are only about 10 copies in existence) that has the entire Jonathan Backhouse Hodgkin line all the way back to our common ancestor Thomas.I keep trying to get a copy from her - I will try again.
Where do you live?Do you have family of your own?
Lovely to hear from you.
Yours truly
Judi Hodgkin
