I am using the term as a proper name. The Frauenheim family of Pittsburgh, PA, was begun by Edward A. Frauenheim from Osnabrueck, Germany, and his wife Mary Meyers
[Meyer and Myers have been used by authors
writing about her], also from Osnabrueck, but
who apparently met Edward in America. He
was the founder of Iron City Brewers, now
Pittsburgh Brewing.
The eldest child of this couple was Aloysius whose wife was Catharine Heyl, a daughter of a well-known Pittsburgh tobacconist.Their
eldest child, Joseph A., married Mary Magdalen Kerner.Joseph and Mary's son, Aloysius, married Marie Louise Reick, born in Pennsylvania, probably Pittsburgh, March 29, 1902, and died in Los Angeles, January 27,
1981.I do not know her father's first name.
Her mother was a Hofacker; I do not know her first name, either.
In answer to your question, I'd just assume
she was a Pennsylvania Hofacker. The Frauenheims in America were, as far as I can
learn, Roman Catholic.I am searching for
German roots for them and have found Catholics and Evangelical Lutherans in Germany in the past.
The information above has been found on-line.
I have no additional information except about
the Frauenheims, being researched for friends who are descendants.
