This is not my Holder line but I looked at it because of Josephine's brother's Cornelious/Cornelius Holder. Before I knew my Lewis Cornelius Holder was of the "Moravian" line. (DNA Group B #026) I researched all Holder lines with a Cornelius.
I found this Holder family is in the 1880 Florida, Clay County, Precinct 6&7. Then 1900 Florida, Clay County, Belmore Twsp. 1910 Florida, Clay County, Flouts Mill Twsp.
By 1920 mother is a widow living with yougest son in Theressa, Bradford County, Florida. Below is the family as compiled by censuses and other records I found online.
>Joseph J or B Holder b. 1832 to 1835 in FL, parents b. FL
1900 census has b. July 1833 married 28 yrs
>Mary E. Holder (nee unknown) b. 1841 to 1855 FL b. FL

>Josephine b. abt 1869/1870 FL married name Kersey

>Corneius b. Oct 1879 FL is married in own hh below parents, wife's name Dove married 5 months. Filed WWI Draft Registration Card Sept 12, 1918 in Bradford County with Oct 12, 1878 birthdate.
>Richard Byrant b. Nov 1880 FL 1900 in parents hh and filed a WWI Draft registration Card in Bradford County FL with birthdate Nov. 7, 188? (last # cut of scan, transcribed as 1881),nearest relative Addie Holder 1920 census living in Palatka, Putnam County FL, R B and Addie with children.
>Medella b. July 1886 FL 1900 in parents hh.
>Simeon b. June 1890 FL 1900 in parents hh, 1920 Theressa. Putnam Co FL census has name transcribed as Simuel Holder with his mother Mary E living with him and family.
There is a Joe Holder and a Mary Holder buried in the Hope Baptist Cemetery in Bradford County. Both are on the same headstone with "Joe Holder & Mary Holder his wife age 82".
Unknown vitals b & d. Can be found at www.findagrave.com
Florida Death Index has a Joseph B. Holder d. 1918 in Bradford County and since Mary is a widow in 1920 census this must be her husband and Josephone's father. The 1900 census has the middle initial J.
After looking this up I realized I had helped someone in 2006 with finding the parents of a Lula Holder and sheturned out to be the oldest daughter of Thomas J Holder son of the above Joseph and Mary Holder.
I had found an online family tree for this Holder Family at Rootsweb posted by a Jason Haydon:
Joseph Bell Holder b. 1839 FL married Mary E. Clarks.
Jason takes this line further back.
On the "American Civil War Soldiers" database is a Joseph B. Holder that served in the 1st Florida Calvary Comapny C as a Pvt. Enlisted Oct 30, 1861 in Magnolia FL and had a disability discharge June 5, 1862. Further information has died Jan 14, 1918 in Bradford County FL.
Are there any Holder males of this line that could contribute a DNA sample for the Holder Family DNA Project?
Hope this helps find one.
