Hello Andrew,
it's interesting for me to read the mails from people finding out the root of her surname, specially the surname
Holderbaum. I tried also to find out a little about the history of this name in Germany and I think nearly all
of the American's Holderbaum were emigrants from Germany.
Today in Germany the name Holderbaum is relativly seldom.
I counted on the German telephon-book approx. 100 persons
with this name, compared to other surname like Meyer were
you can find more than 50.000 names on the German telephone book.
The most people with the name Holderbaum are living in the
western part of Germany in the region: Mosel /Hunsrueck /
Pfalz, a region from were a lot of emigrants moved to USA
in the 18th and 19th century.
If you should have further questions to the german roots of
Holderbaum, don't hestitate to send me a mail.
best regards
Juergen Holderbaum([email protected])
