My great-grandfather was also apparently born somewhere in Lancashire, in 1867.His name was William Frederick Holding, and he emigrated to Pittsburgh, PA some time before 1891.He married Christine Louise Wright, an American, in Pittsburgh.They lived for some time in the Bronx, NY, and their son, William Frederick Holding Jr., moved to Toronto, Ontario after WWI.My father claims he has his father's birth certificate somewhere which supposedly gives *his* grandparents' names, so I'll let you know.
