Hi... I've been researching the Holdren family recently and I think I can help you here.
On the 1870 Mercer Co., WV census in Plymouth Township (pg. 554): Tyrussa HALDREN (26) was living as a domestic servant with the family of George & Rhoda Reed.Tyrussa had two young girls with her -- Margaret A. (3) and Katy (1).I believe Katy is your grandmother.
According to some information I found on Ancestry.com, Hugh French Wiley was born around 1845 to Absolum Wiley.I couldn't find Hugh French on the 1870 census in Mercer County, but a 63-year old Absolum Wiley was living right next door to Tyrussa and the Reeds.
If you'll look at another of the recent postings on this forum, you'll see some mail about Lorissa Haldron...Lorissa and Tyrussa are the same person.
Tyrussa D. HALDREN was born around 1842 in either Marshall or Mercer Co., VA.She was the daughter of Henry HOLDREN (c1810-1811 Bedford VA - d. after 1870) and Mahala Thompson (b. c1818 VA - d. 1860s).Henry & Mahala married on 22 December 1835 in Giles Co., VA. They had 14 children.
I am certain that Henry was the son of Cornelius HOLDREN (b. c1773 Loudoun VA - d. 1850s Mercer? VA) and Sarah "Sally" Broadwater (b. c1776 Loudoun? VA - d. after 1870 Bedford VA).
Cornelius was the son of Cornelius & Rebeckah HOLDREN of Loudoun Co., VA.
Hope this helps.
Don
