Hello Rick,
Sorry to see its taken me so long to catch up with your info/enquiry on Hole Haplotype. (I should have been much more "on the ball").
I'm unsure whether I've ever corresponded with you before on matters concerning the Hole family - perhaps I have, but at the moment (and for another 6 weeks or so) I'm travelling away from home so am unable to consult my records to determine this.
However, you may be interested to hear that another Hole has "done the test", but is sadly now deceased, (he was well into his 90's though!)
He was James Hole, of Devonshire Hole ancestry and a cousin of mine; my maternal grandmother was a Hole (of Devon) and I've been working on 'my' Hole genealogy for many (maybe >30) years, off and on.
I can confirm that James was R1a1a group and same antecedents (i.e. probable Viking) as yourself. I haven't at this time made contact with anyone else who matches and has the Hole surname as well.I've had 3 contacts though with people who match, but who have a different surname (i.e. my understanding is that these 3 matches would have occurred way before before surnames became general and somewhere around 24 to 28 generations ago.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes from Annette.
