Hoffman Holeman Family Trumbull and Mahoning Counties OHIO
I am seeking information on Hoffman or Huffman Holeman's family who was first in Trumbull County OH and then Mahoning County OH. Hoffman married Sary(Sarah) Harner around 1840 in Trumbull County. They had several children together including, but not only John, Elias and George as well as Rachel who was my Great Grandmother.Rachel was born around 1848/49 in Trumbull County. In 1850 this family was living in Green Twp. Trumbull County OH, but by 1860 had relocated to Berlin Mahoning County OH. In the 1880 census 2 girls, Enola and Henrietta were listed as daughters to Hoffman and Sary. However, Nola (enola) was actully Rachel's daughter. There is a lot of confusion surrounding Rachel's husbands and children. At some point in time Rachel was married to a John Harmon or Hamon as he is listed as Nola's father in her obituary. I have not found a marriage record for them, so I am not sure just when they were married. Nola was born in 1872. Rachel was also married to Horatio Hoover. They had one son Arthur Clayton, my Grandfather who was born 1883 in Berlin Mahoning County. However, his birth was listed as illegitimate, his name as Clayton and his mother as Rachel Holeman. Not sure what is up here as Rachel and Horatio married in 1873 according to their marriage record. I have found no leads to figure this out. Rachel died December 4, 1897 in Deerfield Portage County OH. She and Horatio were married at that time according to his military records. At the time of her death she was "married" so it fits together. There is more, but not enough space or time to post all. I have hit brick walls for years on this subject. If anyone knows anything about this Holeman/Hoover union PLEASE, I would love to hear from you.
