Holladays of Mass, New York, Indianna, Ohio and California
Attention all Holladays, whether you spell it Halliday, Holladay, Holliday or Halladay or whatever.I have been researching my Holladay family line for several years now and made a lot ofmistakes, followed a lot of false traisl but other things that I suspected turned out to be true.I want to find out more about this family and those of you related to it.
Here is what I know so far including info I just learned within the last few weeks.
My oldest provable Holladay ancestor is Samuel W. Holladay who married Sarah Joslin in Tyringham, Mass.He was a minuteman from Tyringham. He fought during the American Revolution at the battle of Saratoga.
He had 4 children with Sarah Joslin.Their children were Elias, Sameul, Sarah and Gideon.Gideon was my 3 great grandfather most likely named after Sarah Joslin's father Gideon Joslin who was also a Tyringham Minuteman.
Elias became a lawyer and a judge in the town of Scoharie, New York, he was first appointed an assistan judge in 1820. Samuel became a cabinet maker in Madison County, New York and had a least one son also named Samuel.
Sarah Holladay married someone named Hathaway and died also in Madison co. NY in her 90's.
Gideon Holladay married Marth Coon, a daughter of Jessee Coon of New York. They had 13 children and here they are in order of their birth.

13-Newton
I know some dates and other info I have not posted here as I want to get this stuff up for anyone who may be searching for it.All these people either lived in New York, Indianna, or Ohio, save for Samuel Wirt who moved to San Francisco.
the theory goes that Samuel W. Holladay of Tyringham Mass, is a descendent of Walter Holladay and Katherine Hunter Holladay. His parents are in theory Samuel HOlladay and Elizabeth Brace. One online person once stated he was born on March 5, 1747.I have never found that source and that person vanished from the web at that time.
There are many lines of Walter and Katherine Hunter Holladay posted at the site of the History society of Suffield CT.
Also Sarah Josin HOlladay was widowed.I know not when or where Samuel W. Holladay died and was buried, Possibly Madison Co. New York, She remarried the captain that Sam had served under in the Revolution, a Captain, Herrick, I think Ezekail Herrick, she was widowed again and later died supposedly in Hammonsport NY, with the Coon family.
I woul dlike to fill in the gaps of this information and find missing HOlladay cousins in the bargain.
If ny of this rings a bell with anyone let me know.
