Following up on my original post, I do believe it is likely that the Richard Holland who married Sarah Hudson is the son of Michael Holland of Goochland.
In Michael's 1746 will, he left Richard 950 acres of land on Meredith's Branch.Richard later sold that land to William Hughes. In that transfer, Richard's wife, Sarah, relinquished her dower. This establishes that Michael's son was married to a woman named Sarah. It's not proof positive, but it is compelling.
From Michael Holland’s Will dated 10 OCT 1746 Goochland, Virginia, Deed Book 5, pg. 22 2 “I give devise and bequeath unto my son Richard Holland and to his heirs forever a plantation lying in Louisa County which I bought of Ambrose Smith also a plantation called Merediths Branch in Henrico County wheron he now lives containing five hundred acres land and four hundred fifty acres land I promised to give him joyning thereto where Wm Web formerly lived, I also give him the following negroes, Harry, Mann, Robin, Sarah and two of her children and a negro boy called Jenny and fifty pounds Current money to be paid eighteen months after my death.”
