Re: Katheran, wife of Henry Hollingsworth
Am I right? I'm NOT the only one researching
this stuff? Maybe NOW we can get some of these stories straight. Maybe someone can at least write an ACCURATE biography on these Hollingsworths and we could go along with it 'till something becomes unproven, then correct it. I've read more junk on who was who in regards to this surname, not the least was my own line. Maybe write just single bio's on each individual instead of as a group since that seems to be how so much gets told that is not true. Like the story of Thomas getting killed by a buffalo. They didn't have buffalos in Virginia in 1700's. That one was hard to believe when I read it. Or Stephen,
son of Henry, son of Val. going to Virginia and dying there.(The Jolliffe's story). He didn't. He went on to No.Carolina. And on and on it goes. It's been a while since I researched Hollingsworths but Ill try to give sources when I can. I gave in message 1428 the source for Henri Hollingwort. For Catherine(I spell it Kathrine)Hollingsworth, she listed as Mrs. Hollingsworth/spouse of Henry, born 1600- Armagh-film 0177920 and on sheet # 567-County Armagh,Ireland-LDS.of which I'm loo
king at a copy while I'm typing this. Now while I can't vouch for her being born in Armagh,(Probably recorded in Armagh),
it's for certain that Catherine was born before Valentine. Was she a Cornish? Since she was a Hollingsworth after marrying Henri Holl.,that leaves the question begging: Who was that widow woman named Cornish living in Henry Hollingsworth's house in Maryland. Since that widow held the name of Cornish, then she must have been -M- to some guy named Cornish and was some kind of kin to Henry or else what was she doing there? I haven't been into research for some time but a little effort put into Cecil Co. should turn up something. I once saw,in a Library in New York,a picture of the gravestone of Henry Hollingsworth, son of Valentine. I don't remember that he was buried in the same place as Valentine. He's in Maryland; Val is in Delaware. Page 568 shows Henry born in 1602.
Doug; I'll tell you like I tell Lawrence Todd who seems tobe the Tillinghast data-bank.
That's my mother's family. I DON'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP OUT OF WHOLE CLOTHE. If you don't like what I found, substitute your own data. I put on the message forum some information that has not been on before. And I copied from my notes I made many (@9)years ago. I have seen some requests for info on the Cornish's genealogy. They have a genforum but nothing on it goes back to the 1600's.
Type in h---/3w.Genforum/Cornish and you'll see what I mean. A few have wondered about the Trial ofCornish. Maybe someone could get a genealogist in England to look up the source I gave and get an accurate date. Maybe someone reading this would do the effort and find out. In the meantime/ Regards; Elton.
