Sorry it has taken so long!Osborn Hollis, grandson of a Revolutionary soldier and Winston County farmer, came to Winston county in the 1860's from Neshoba Co. His parents were Reuben and Mary Hollis, both of whom were born in Fairfield County, SC, prior to 1785.The family left Fairfield County, SC, for Greenville County in the same state about 1820.By 1830 they were living in Autauga County, Ala. and by 1845 in Kemper County, MS, where they died, Mary prior to 1870 and Reuben prior to 1880. Reuben and Mary Hollis had two known sons, Osborn and Ransom W.Osborn was born 4 April 1814 in SC and died after 1880 in Winston County. He is buried at Murphy Creek Baptist Cemetery, Winston County.His wife, Mary A., was born 12 Oct. 1830 in AL, died 18 Nov. 1898 in Winston County and is buried at Murphy Creek.They were married about 1845 and had the following children:John, born about 1846 in Kemper County.Jane, born about 1847 in Kemper County.George W., born 1850 in Kemper County, married Martha A. in March 1870, Winston County.Reuben E., born Dec. 1852, Kemper County, married Mary Louvenia in 1870, Winston County.Henderson, born about 1854, Kemper or Neshoba County, married Kittie in 1880 and died prior to 1900.Sidney I., born 18 Oct. 1855 in Kemper or Neshoba County, died 8 July 1918 and is buried at Murphy Creek Baptist Cemetery.He married C. Indy Smith, born 18 Oct. 1854, died 12 June 1913, buried at Murphy Creek.James Franklin, born Feb. 1858, Kemper or Neshoba County, married Acenia Cally Thomas about 1876, died 1919 at Wickliffe in Ballard County, KY and is buried there in Old Mississippi Cemetery.Avaline, born 1860, Neshoba County, died prior to 1870.Derrell M., born 1865, Neshoba or Winston County, married R. Taylor in Winston County, 23 Dec. 1885.Sarah, born 1867, Winston County, married S.W. Bagwell, Winston County, 23 Jan. 1894.Mary, born 1875, Winston County. Dolly, born 1876, Winston County.This information came from a book entitled Winston County and Its People, Tauton and Parkes.I hope the authors do not mind that I copied this information word for word.I didn't want to leave out anything that might be important.I hope this information helps you or someone else.
