James Hood and Susannah Hensley

I have been told that Susannah Hensley's husband's name was JAMES W. HOOD.Does anyone know where the W came from?What it stands for?What record it was on?I only have the Knox County, TN marriage records and it shows JAMES HOOD (no W).Thanks for your help.
