By Fataah Ewe August 27, 2012 at 01:49:51

Looking for parents, birthdate, location of birth for James Hood, the father of Pleasant J. Hood, b 1805, George Hood, b. 1808, Pricilla Hood b.1809, Tucker J. Hood b. 1811, Dolly Hood, b. bef 1820, Eizabeth Hood & Sarah Sally Hood both bef 1820. Spouse #1: Mary ___?

Spouse #2 Mary Brooks, poss Cherokee, child: (note: my gg grandfather) James Hood or James W. Hood, and sister Rebecca Hood b 1828 (?).
This James fought for the Union, settled in Du Quoin, So. IL.
Civil War discharge papers (Aug 1864) say James W Hood age was 23 yro, he was a blacksmith, this places his birth at 1841, Allen County, KY. I am sure this is the correct James as I have his CW pension records too. He is described as black hair, eyes, dark complexion,

There is a will frm Allen County for the father, James Hood, dated 1828.
I am wondering if he was born in Allen County. He must have been born 1785 or so.

Upon the father Jame's death, James and Rebecca were given to 1/2 sister Pricilla Hood McAllister & her husband James McAllister. There is no mention of property, but some say there was land (?).

I would appreciate anyone's observations about the James' set of people, where they came from, and anything on (Mary Brooks?) You may contact me directly or post here, as any (scarce) info is valuable for anyone else.
