Do you have any Hildebrand connected to your Hoods? Besides us Y DNA testing for Jacob Hood of Burke ( who does not match other Hood on Y-DNA) we have now also autosomal DNA tested. We are matching Hildebrand from Burke at around 4th cousin and have a few distant cousin matches to Hildebrand not from Burke. Jacob Hood and his wife Deletha Ramsey were my only two ancestors that lived in Icard Burke (right next too Hildebran town Burke County). These German Hildebrands from Lincoln/Burke did marry and are related to the Cherokee. In speaking to a Cherokee tribal member that is trying to trace a Hood female they told me the Hood and Hidebrands fought in the Civil War for the Cherokee. My Jaocb Hood was too old for the civil war. We are missing Jacob's first 3 sons. Dont know if they died or took off. Sidney is the one son that we know fought for Caldwell County. Jacob's first born is Alfred and we dont know if and who Alfred was named named after or Jacob just liked the name Alfred but I see your Hood lines have Alfred in them. I have not seen the John Hood/Isabella Kincade line in Burke using the name Alfred.
