Clemons Hooper 1812 Service?
Just this past month, Fold3.com completed an index to Bounty-Land Warrant Applications for military service. I was amazed to find an entry for Private Clemons Hooper, with service in the Georgia Militia under Capt. Stonesapher, Col. Clark. This application, number 55-217198, was rejected, so he got no land warrant. But the application - it might be full of info. Has anyone ever seen that application?
I feel pretty confident that this claim is for the brother of Absalom Hooper of western NC. If so, I think it places the death of Clemons as being after 1855, since I believe the first number in the application number is related to the date of the act authorizing bounty land. And, depending upon what kind of testimony Clemons made, the details within the application might add new insights for that Hooper lineage. So ---- anyone ever seen that application????
