End of Genforum message boards coming in September
Ancestry announced today that they will close down genealogy.com in September.

Ancestry will make the genforum boards into a read-only format - meaning that responses to already posted messages will not be possible. This is a serious change and loss. As of today, there are 4275 messages at the Hooper site here, and many more messages involving Hoopers and their relatives are posted at other surname boards.
Not being able to reply to messages to answer questions orto gain clarity on a message -- man, this will truly change this resource. We can only hope that Ancestry.com will continue to maintain the read-only version for many years to come.
As for me, I will soon start to save and print out all my own messages (and the replies) for all my many postings. This will be laborious, and will prevent me from progressing in other genealogy studies. And of course, I will not be posting many new messages here, given the fact that new readers after September will not be able to reply.
Instead of taking my time to do new postings, I will be researching other methods for creating or using permanent message boards for Hooper studies.
For now, it appears that Ancestry.com intends to continue the message boards here at boards.ancestry.com.
