I am new at this. Questioning family members and seeing tombstones that back up family recollections is as far as I have gotten. This has led back to the early 1800's. All in Chester County.
My mother's family is Rhoads. In one cemetary in Lionville, Chester County, the Rhoads family goes back to 1800.
I have found a 1600's tax record for a Hopton in Delaware County.
On the internet, I have found many references to Hoptons in England.
Walter De Hopton was a Justice of the court in the reign of Edward I, in Wales Dec, 1280
Robert Hopton served in the retinue of Lord Scrope with Richard III at the battle of Bosworth field, Aug. 12, 1485
Sir Ralph Hopton was a general with King Charles.
