Fay, you may already have found this but-----
It looks if Solomon S. Horton died or went his own way by 1860, and Cebelle Fluker Horton, seems to have M2 a William M. Varnell. In 1860 the Varnell family is in Victoria Co., TX, and in the household is female, Ann Chase Varnell, age 13, b. LA.This has to be the Ann Horton age 3, b. LA on the 1850 census for East Feliciana Parish, LA, with parents S.S. Horton and Cebelle Horton and brother, William.A couple of people have listed this Varnell connection on the Ancestry World Tree portion of Ancestry.com.
Still have no idea of the circumstances and consequences of S. S. Horton shooting to death his brother-in-law, James B. Tutt, ca. April 1845 in AL.
