William Worsham/Nancy Horton 1880 Fannin Co, TX

By Donald Horton May 30, 2011 at 05:43:53

Worsham and Peeble files list Nancy Worsham b 1854, AL as a Horton.
William is the son of John b abt 1803, TN and Penelope b abt 1806; listed b TN in 1850; AL in 1860. John and Penelope have 8 kids listed in the census records, 1850 in Choctaw Co, MS; 1860 in San Augustine Co, TX:
Eaton b 1828, MS
Catherine 1834, AL
Simeon 1836 AL
Mary 1841 AL
William 1844 AL
Martha 1846 AL
Augustus 1848 AL
Darius 1853 AL
Only Eaton is listed anywhere in 1870. William and wife Nancy are listed in Fannin Co, TX in 1880. As for Nancy's lineage as a Horton? I inherited the same list shown in the Worsham files in my Peeble files as her being a daughter of Amos and Lou Horton of Choctaw Co, MS. That Amos b 1811 is the son of Sterling and Mary Truesdale Horton of Lancaster Co, SC. Amos m 1st Susan Baskin. In the 1860 census Susan is listed as Sou and incorrectly indexed as Lou. Amos and Susan do not have a daughter Nancy. The only Nancy Horton born in AL around 1854 is the daughter of Abner and Mary McDaniel Horton of Calhoun Co, AL.She remained in AL. I checked the TX records for Hortons in 1860 and 1870 in San Augustine, Lamar, and Fannin Co's and none have a daughter Nancy b in middle 1850's. Sorry I can't help more.
