This by far not my line - but since I am Native American was curious about the assertins made
Where was Reuben born - what year -
The only Reubens I have noted in the "Old Cherokee Families" were born in:
1 1845 son of James and Mary
2 1865 son of William and Elizabeth
There were none listed that I noticed at first glance in the 1880 Census - but will have to recheck my books Monday-
There should have been a
James b 1854 - d 1916 OK (adopted White)
Mary
Martha (d) b 1877
The Horton's I can find were on the Dawes none listed on the Miller - so they were:
1. Old Settlers - not entitled to Miller money
2. Freedmen - also not entitled
Dawes Notations:
Horton, John H(father - deceased)
Horton, Benjamin F 1 MAS
Horton, Nancy Alice1 FAS
Horton, William A4mAS
Horton, Emmett L6 MAS
Horton, Laura M8 FAS
Horton, Rhoda A32 FAS
This would be Rhoda A Summers, who married 1) Barker, Laurence L - had 2 children then married John H Horton - who died prior to 1906
There were other freedmen have not noted them here
There are a few Choctaw listed but have not searched them
Not trying to ruffle any feathers but am really curious - since my family is Fields and Hicks and Bigby
Thanks,
Betty
