Re: James Horton/Elizabeth Hicks update

The history of the Cherokees and Choctaws is not my forte at all; but the congruence of Hicks and Hortons together caught my attention. I have enough information to give a decent background, but not the minute detail. In the middle 1700's Nathan Hicks, I think a trader, married the Cherokee Nayehi. Their three sons, Nathan Jr., Charles Renatus, and William were pretty much the leadership of the Cherokee nation in Georgia/Tennessee until the early 1800's. After Charles' death the hostilities between settler interlopers and Cherokees escalated dramatically. Nathan Jr m Mary Mason and I have 2 sons in my file, Reuben b abt 1790; James b 20 Mar 1799. The area has been listed as Washington Co/Montgomery Co, GA and Cherokee Nation.
