Smith (Smyth, Smythe??) Horton

I am looking for info on this person in part to help me with my earlier post on John Marshall Horton Sr.

I obtained Marshall's brother's name later of Smith. This is very possibly a middle name he went by and the 1st/given name something else?? as I'm coming up with nothing as uncommon as I thought this name might be. He was probably born between 1930-'37.

Both of them are thought to have been born in Ark. A family member seems to recall that Smith was killed in a vehicle accident, and also thinks that Marshall (whose primary employment was a Derek man in the oil fields) died a few years after his divorce which would put his death no later probably than the late 50's??

I can no longer find Social Security Death index online (free) to possibly help me. I am coming up with nothing to help especially no more than I have to even know if I might be looking at the correct John Horton...and Ancestry.com has been down most of the last day or so. Any clue from someone would be so appreciated! Thanks, Sandra
