Hi Karen!Great to hear from you so quickly! I have read your original posting, listing your information-and am not clear on all of it...like the apparent listed children to William and Lucy without details, including "no name"...?Can you explain perhaps how to interpret it-what you mean...perhaps I am missing something but...
What I have: Marriage certificate for Annie Edith Hoult to Edward Joseph Sage on April 12,1910 in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Additional listed details about the bride: Place of birth-Franklin, Washington, USA Parents-William Hoult & Lucy Sproxton. (I realize the maiden name for Lucy varies abit from your listing of Sprousen).
I had originally located as sister to Annie Edith Hoult...who married a Swedish ancestor (that is my connection). Her name was Harriet Elizabeth Hoult, born February 12,1880 in Yorkshire, England. She married August Carlson and also resided in Nanaimo, British Columbia.I have the census for BC Canada which lists Harriet and her husband (1901). Her parents: William Hoult and Lucy Sproxton. (same spelling variance). Year of immigration to Canada: 1882
I have just recently found the family on the 1881 census for England.Obviously I knew that Annie was born outside England (USA from her marriage certificate)...however I wondered if William and Lucy had any other children (other than Harriet!) prior to their departure from England. Here is what I found with help from a reasearcher there (still to get actual copy of census record).
1881 CENSUS Listing: Dwelling-5 Martin Row Census Place: Liverton, York, England Marital status/Age/Sex/Birthplace
William Holt,M,31,M, Ottringham, York,England Rel:Head, Occupation-Ironstone miner
Lucy Holt,M,27,F,Bilton,York,England Rel:wife
Francis Jane Holt,6,F,Loftus,York,England Rel:daur (daughter) Occ:scholar
From what I have seen, this variation of Holt, Hoult is quite common...especially where verbally given and recorded by someone else-(for example)-by the registrar recording one of the births...you know?
I am sure this is the same family (a birth certificate I also have for a child born to Harriet lists the family-and the surname is Holt on that too)....and there is more to tell you about some facts/documentation- but it is quite private in nature. I will email that to you privately, OK?! Should you wish copies of these government records for yourself, I would be happy to send them to you if you provide your mailing address to me (again privately of course!).
Well, I will await your reply...and get more of my information out... Kind regards, Donna
